Happy As A Tree

If you were as happy as a tree, imagine how happy you would be
Imagine yourself like a crawling snail, taking the time to enjoy the trail
Taking pause as the sunflower does, lifting your face to the sun above
Lifting your spirit along with the pine, reaching where the clouds abide
Reaching for hope as a swirling dove, searching for God's perfect love

I am Watching

I have been here forever
I see where you've been
I watched from afar
Beginning to end

I watched a child  to the world he was born
I've seen mankind struggle and torn
I've seen it all from a universal view
And this is why now I come to you

Take from the animals their instinct to live
By nature they take and know what to give
listen to the trees and their whispering words
only in silence their true meaning is heard

you know the secrets of the ancients the say
go back to the knowledge, uncover the ways
when nature was respected as a sacred  ground
where spirit and body and wholeness was found

 I am the shining star
 Watching from afar

not going back there

Not going back there  aint no need
Seen all there is to see
Took the train here back to me
back to where my soul is free

There is a peace here can't be found
on any city concrete ground
and all the people rushing by
never stopping themselves and asking why

I see beauty outside my door
dirt dragged in on the kitchen floor
lab dog laying at Daddy's feet
kitten on the front stoop ready to greet

there's nothing pulling on my rein
no reason to go down that track again
what I have is all right here
with the peaceful sound of the whippoorwill

chorus
cat scratching under the willow tree
the lazy river winding in front of me
butterflies in a dance of bliss
there is nothing I would trade for this

the stars full in the bright night sky
the whir of wings when the geese fly by
Got all I need here
this train's come home

As A Daughter Of This Earth

As long as I can scratch a line in the earth and plant a seed there, there is time!
While butterflies unfurl their inner beauty and reveals her secrets there, there is hope!
If I can still drink in the nectars of the last of summer  sweet flowers, I'm alive!

Let me approach nature in wonder
and walk silently in the forest undisturbed
Allow myself to be one with it a moment
Listening to the chatter of unhurried birds

Let me listen to the lessons the Mother whispers
Become native to my ancestors adopted land
Drink in the ancient powers that surround me
Take in the few minutes pause to understand

Many feet have walked this earth before me
Their footprints of  the knowledge are still here
The very thing that spells out our own survival
The mystery of the seeds one becomes aware

Perfect in it's design as God had created
Left to man to tend in loving, mindful, care
If I want to help and heal back this planet
In my hands I hold the life line that is there

Save heirloom seeds!

I'll Never Give Up. I'll Never Give In

I'll never give up, I'll never give in
Cuz' quittin' now means I'll never win
and I gotta tell you that's no option
didn't come so far to quit the race
there's so much more yet to taste
So I'm not going anywhere, I'm here to stay
There's too much left I need to say

Smell the flowers
observe the bees
enjoy the moment
listen to me
you gotta live to live
and give to give
most of all you have to forgive
it's your future you see
listen to your heart so you can be

So stay the course, not lose your way
Remember there will be many dragons to slay
It's coming down to the judgement day
Raise your head to keep the pace
See the finish line at the end of the race
When the clouds roll in, the darkened days
Fold your hands together and pray

Smell the flowers
observe the bees
enjoy the moment
listen to me
you gotta live to live
and give to give
most of all you have to forgive
it's your future you see
listen to your heart so you will be

Where Have They Gone

How is it, how could it be
Not a walking man as far as his eyes could see
Everything else was in it's place, the flowers, the stream and the trees
The sun was shining, the air perfumed, the blowing kiss of  the breeze

Where did they go he pondered
The quiet  parks where children once wandered
Not even the the sweet smells, crisps linens, all  freshly laundered
Have they paid the price, mere humans, for all that they have sqaundered

Did they go too far he thought
Had they paid the final price for all they had sought
The lies that were sold, the deceptions, all that they were taught
The preacher the kings and the politicians, whose souls were long bought

Why did they have unlistening ears
There were others who tried to tell them over the years
They couldn't crawl out, from under, frozen up by their own fears
Now their life is left free flowing, far down that murky stained river of tears

The bee nestled closer to the soft marigold
Waiting for reasons and the questions that were untold
Wondering why man ever thought nature was to be bought and sold
Why a species would kill off each other, for the spoils of silver, oil and gold

I Must

There is an emptiness I'm not sure how to fill
It is as if all is standing still
Waiting for the bitter winter's release
and the song of birds in the lilac branches reach

Gazing through the greying gauzy curtains
I am lost in why and it's uncertains
Whether I get past this time of snowy bliss
allowing for natures miracle to bear again it's witness

I am hoping to taste again all of the pleasures
One by one I will seek the treasures
In every flower and tree and  buzzing insect
Bowing  gratefully to the Mother in reverent respect

As I continue plodding on this fertile earth
pondering who, what and why is my worth
Scratching at the surface of  sacred ground
Is the answers I will search until  heaven opens abound

I kick at the ground and watch the raise of dust
To turn and see and question thy must
It is all before me for my soul to take within
For every step taken forward is where I've never been
